WELCOME!

Hello Folks it's Steve From

Cozy Cafe Johnston

My name is Steve Britton, I have been in this line of work for over 35 years, I am a somewhat self-taught Chef (In the beginning I was taught by my Mother she was a certified Chef) that, I believe is where my love of food preparation and service started, most would say I didn't have a choice but to go into this business, as both of my folks were in the Hospitality arena, (Dad was a Food and Beverage Manager in the Hotel Business) so Culinary from Mom and Hospitality from Dad...Who knew it would work out this way, you might say it was meant to be!

I had the pleasure of working with my folks at a very young age in the Restaurant they owned, as a boy, those days mostly contained the chores of busing tables and washing dishes...Lots of peeling...ie. potatoes, onions, eggs, etc. or soaking and sorting beans, of all kinds, and I mus-int forget biscuits, pie dough, gravy rue, my oh my the things we forgot that we knew, and then, remembered!

I went on to work for several restaurants over the years, a couple I'm sure you will recognize, Bonanza, Village Inn, and Perkins then I went into a partnership In a Restaurant in Harrisonville Mo. called the Harvest House, after that I went to the chain Cracker Barrel, and most recently The Iowa Machine Shed right here in Urbandale.

We have weekly live music! Check out our Events page for more info.
